This special edition of "Campaign Droppings" pays tribute to Hillary Clinton for dropping her campaign.
At long last, Senator, you have a sense of decency. At least you didn't compound your previous bad taste by withdrawing the day before, the 40th anniversary of the death of a presidential candidate -- a Senate predecessor of yours, an even you seemed to hope might be repeated.
As with so many defeated Democratic candidates -- McGovern, Ted Kennedy, Gore, Kerry --nothing became her campaign so much as her leaving it. Why is it, I wonder, that freed from the next week's election or floor vote, politicians are at their best when they have lost?
We can hope that the Obama-McCain battle will be conducted on high ground, but in the likely event it is not, here is a video for use by those of you bombarded with anti-Obama hate e-mail.
