Hooray for the Red, White and Blue

I love the Fourth. The flags, the parades, the marches, the baseball, the patriotic songs, the oratorical treacle, the barbecue, the fireworks.

I just hate them every other day.

We have out-of-town visitors this Fourth, but they are going to be on their own, as we have a big league ballgame to go to and a previous committment with friends. What our visitors are doing, however, is the one event I recommend to anyone visiting Washington on a future Indpendence Day. And that's "A Capitol Fourth," National Symphony Orchestra concert on the Capitol lawn, with celebrity entertainers and a finale of the "1812 Overture" leading into the fireworks on the National Mall.

Inspiring.
