March of Folly

I didn't realize it was March until I saw an article in this morning's New York Times saying that many adults are often too tired to have sex.

Yes, every March there is a spate of news article and cutesy TV new spots about 1) sexless adults 2) teenagers too tired from lack of sleep to do well in school 3) Gen Xers with too few Zs.

Ever wonder why this happens in March?

When does Daylight Savings Time start?

Who issues these crocus-times press releases based on scientifically absurd studies?

If it were the case that the National Sleep Foundation is behind this annual campaign to persuade gullible news media into believing phony statistics and bad science, one might want to ask why.

One might wish to find out who funds the National Sleep Foundation and why.
