New Blog on a Warm Bucket

Just calling your attention (top item in links to the right) to a new political blog by Congressional Quarterly's Jonathan Allen chronicling the vice presidential sweepstakes -- a race nobody admits to running. The first entry, dated today, contains an interview with George ("Come Home America") McGovern.

Bob Dole, three-time loser in v.p. and presidential races, in 1976 called Jimmy Carter a "southern-fried McGovern" and then apologized to chickens.

For those new to political lore, it was one of FDR's vice presidents, John Nance Garner of Texas, who famously described being vice president as not being worth a warm bucket of piss.

How times have changed. The current occupant of the post is definitely a No. 2 sort of fellow.
